Our third field meeting of the year will be held around Mountsorrel. Please note that the meeting and parking directions are slightly amended due to new road works and a one way system. We will meet at the junction of Crown Lane and The Navins, Mountsorrel LE12 7AB (SK581148) on Saturday, 19th May at 10.30 a.m. By car, approach The Navins from Crown Lane, because The Navins is one way, north to south, and Watling Street is closed. Parking is to one side of The Navins or Watling Street.
We plan to hunt for some unusual and rare species recorded in the area, but not recently re-found there, and to explore the interesting network of old and new footpaths in the area. We will record for the monad, SK5814 and the tetrad SK51S, but in a leisurely fashion with plenty of time to work on our ID skills. We may finish the session with tea and cake at Granite’s.
The meeting is suitable for beginners and more experienced botanists, and will be a fairly leisurely afternoon with plenty of time to discuss what we find. Access will be on public footpaths and public access land and will continue to around 3:00 p.m. There are refreshment outlets in the village, but no public toilets at this meeting.
Booking is essential. If you would like to attend, please email email@example.com or phone 07594 302127 to reserve a place.
