Field Meeting 1st July

The next vascular plant field meeting will take place on Saturday 1st July, south of Snarestone. Meet at SK346082 in the small car park off Ashby Road near Gopsall Wharf. To cover as much of the area as possible, we will divide into 2 groups. One group will record in SK30N, to the south of the car park (mainly the monad SK3507) and the other in SK30P (to the north). Both of these tetrads have permissive paths that expires on 31 July, so this will be our last chance to use them. Both tetrads also contain the Ashby de la Zouch Canal SSSI, which will be good for marginal and submerged aquatic plants, a disused railway line, a lot of mostly arable farm land, hedgerows, small woodlands and roadside verges.

The meeting is suitable for beginners and more experienced botanists, and will be a fairly leisurely day with plenty of time to discuss what we find. The meeting will start at 10:30 a.m. and continue until around 3:00 p.m. You're welcome to stay with us for as long as you wish, and to leave at any time, provided you tell us when you go. Please bring sunscreen, rain gear etc. to suit the weather, and lunch and a drink, if staying all day.
If you would like more details or a lift, please phone me on 0774 548 7766.
Geoffrey
