The field meeting (after Saturday's Bioblitz at Glen Parva) will be held on Tuesday 30th June from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. when we will record in monad SP5599, between Enderby and Fosse Park.
There is a very diverse array of habitats at this site, about half of which is flood-plain meadow. It includes species-rich grassland, mud tracks, a stream and ponds, the River Soar and its banks, urban settlements, roadsides, the Park & Ride and part of the Meridian Business Park, which has a lake. In 2010, Dianthus deltoides was recorded very near here in monad SP5500, so we will try to re-find it as well. This could be a fairly long meeting, as there is a lot of habitats to cover in this monad, so we may split into two groups to cover more of the area.
Park on the side road that forms the entrance to Palmer's Garden Centre at SP552994, taking care to avoid obstructing the entrances to houses, and meet at the west end of the public footpath. Limited parking is also available on roads at the Business Park, but there are a lot of double yellow lines. NB: You can only park at the Park & Ride, if you use the bus service.
